Kelly Wilkes Ford, DMD, MHS:
Dr. Kelly Ford grew up in Summerville, SC and graduated from Summerville High School. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology at the College of Charleston in 1984 and her Doctorate of Dental Medicine at the Medical University of South Carolina in 1990. Dr. Ford completed her Periodontal Residency at MUSC in 1997 and a Masters in Health Sciences, also at MUSC, in 1997. Dr. completed LANAP Certification in 2011. Upon graduation, Dr. Ford practiced General Dentistry from 1990-1994 with her Dad, Dr. H.B. Wilkes, in Summerville.
Dr. Ford is a member of many professional organizations, including the American Academy of Periodontology, SC Periodontal Society, the Charleston Dental Society, and the Summerville Study Club.
Dr. Ford has been married to her husband Bill Ford, a Real Estate Appraiser for 30 years and they have 2 daughters. Chelsea is a medical student at USC and Jessica is pursuing a Masters Degree at Vanderbilt. When Dr. Ford is not in the office, she enjoys reading, movies, going to the beach, and scrapbooking.
Veronica Guy, DMD, MS:
Dr. Veronica “Nika” Guy was born and raised in Goose Creek, South Carolina. She attended Wofford College where she attained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Art History and a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology in 2008. Dr. Guy returned to Charleston and worked in a periodontal office for 2 years while volunteering with free dental clinics throughout the low country.
She began dental school at the Medical University of South Carolina in 2010 and earned her Doctorate of Dental Medicine in 2014. She spent the following year obtaining a certificate for an AEGD (Advanced Education in General Dentistry) at East Carolina University. With an interest in periodontics, she pursued a 3 year residency at the University of Maryland. During her periodontics training, Dr. Guy received an extensive education, both clinically and didactically, in traditional periodontal therapy, bone grafting and regenerative surgery, sinus lifts and augmentation procedures, placing and restoring dental implants, periodontal plastic surgery, soft tissue grafting and tunneling procedures as well as sedation dentistry. Simultaneously, she completed her master’s thesis project. Her research focused on the treatment of oral inflammation impacting other systemic outcomes, most notably, a reduction in HbA1c in a diabetic population or a reduction in preterm labor in a pregnant population. She graduated from the University of Maryland with her postgraduate certificate in Periodontics and her Masters of Science in 2018. Since completion of her program, she has become certified in laser periodontal therapy, also known as LANAP. Dr. Guy is in the process of challenging the board to achieve diplomate status.
Dr. Guy is a member of the American Academy of Periodontology, the Southern Academy of Periodontology, the American Dental Association, the South Carolina Dental Association, the Academy of Osseointegration and was appointed to the advisory board of Charleston Collaborative’s chapter of the Seattle Study Club. She and has traveled abroad on mission trips and continues to stay active in the community by volunteering locally.
Dr. Guy is engaged to be married to her wonderful fiancé, Ben. She enjoys spending her free time with her maltese dogs, Macy & Poppy, wedding planning, being near the water, painting and traveling.
